Tuross Head NSW: A local guide
A place to slow down
Tuross Head is somewhere you come to recharge and rejuvenate—whether for a few days or a few decades. Set off the Princes Highway, with one main road in and out via Hector McWilliam Drive, it has the feel of a destination rather than a town you pass through. Its appeal is the quieter pace, the beautiful scenery and the chance to enjoy nature, with a community that gives the place its character.
Set between Tuross Lake and Coila Lake on the NSW South Coast, Tuross Head brings together waterways, ocean views and places to walk, pause and take it all in. If you are drawn to a coastal break or a change of pace, start by getting to know the town. Explore the setting with Visit NSW.

Get to know the lakes and foreshore
The local foreshore cycling route takes in Coila Lake, the ocean and the Tuross River foreshore. Walking or riding part of the route can help you get a feel for the surroundings. See the Eurobodalla cycling guide for route information.
For a longer coastal outing, the Bingi Dreaming track links Tuross Head and Congo through Eurobodalla National Park. NSW National Parks explains the track's connection to the Brinja-Yuin people's Song Lines and provides visitor information and current alerts.
Fishing and boating in Tuross Head
Time on the water is part of Tuross Head's appeal. Tuross Lake is a Recreational Fishing Haven, with flathead, bream and whiting among the species anglers target. Whether fishing is a holiday pastime or part of your regular routine, the NSW Go Fishing Tuross Head guide is a useful introduction to the local fishery.
Boating and kayaking offer another way to explore Tuross Lake and its adjoining river system, taking in the islands, waterways and surrounding scenery. If you are bringing a boat, Council's marine facilities map helps you find launching facilities. Check current fishing rules and local boating conditions when planning your time on the water.
Golf with a coastal outlook
A round of golf comes with a scenic setting at Club Tuross, at 40 Monash Avenue. Its nine-hole hillside course has two sets of tees for an 18-hole round, with views across the ocean and waterways from many of the holes. Visiting golfers are welcome, making it an option for a holiday round as well as regular play. Contact the club directly to arrange a tee time and check current playing arrangements.
Make room for the things you enjoy
Tennis players can find the Tuross Head courts at Kyla Park on Hector McWilliam Drive. Council provides booking and facility information here.
One Tree Main Beach (Tuross Head Main Beach), on Tuross Boulevarde, has seasonal summer patrols. Check Council's current beach information when planning a swim.
Moving with a dog? Check Council's dog-exercise map and local signs when planning your walks. Different areas have off-leash, timeshare or prohibited access.
